Uisce Éireann can confirm that power has been restored to Knockrobin Wastewater Treatment Plant in Wicklow

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann can confirm that power has been restored to Knockrobin Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Wicklow this evening (Friday) following a fire that resulted in loss of power to the plant yesterday afternoon.

While the plant was offline, Uisce Éireann implemented emergency procedures to manage wastewater treatment. Incoming wastewater to the WWTP was diverted to a storm tank at Murrough Pumping Station for preliminary treatment prior to emergency discharge to Killiney Bay. Due to the restoration of power at the WWTP on Friday evening, the effluent has been returned to the plant for treatment, as per normal practice. The EPA was immediately notified of this emergency procedure, and Uisce Éireann is continuing to provide regular updates to the Agency.
