Water supply restored to Galway City residents after overnight works

Water supply has returned to residents to the west of Galway City this morning after overnight repair works.

The repair works were carried out by specialist crews in the Tonabracky/Letteragh Road area between 10pm on Wednesday night and 1am on Thursday morning.

Customers in Western Distributor Road, Letteragh Road, Rahoon Road, the N59 in Dangan area, Ballymoneen Road, Clybaun Road, Bóthar Stiofán and Gort Na Bró experienced some disruption to their water supply between these times, but supply has now returned.

Shay Walsh of Uisce Éireann thanked customers for their understanding while these critical repair works were underway.“Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused by interruptions to water supply and thanks customers in Galway City for their patience and cooperation while these works were carried out,” he said.

Uisce Éireann is progressing essential repair works to a watermain in Galway City to secure the drinking water supply for the area.

Specialist crews will carry out works on Tonabrocky/Letteragh Road throughout the night on Wednesday, 28 August.

Customers in Western Distributor Road, Letteragh Road, Rahoon Road, N59 in Dangan area, Ballymoneen Road, Clybaun Road, Bóthar Stiofán and Gort Na Bró may experience an interruption to their water supply between 10pm on Wednesday, 28 August and 6am on Thursday morning, 29 August.

These essential works are necessary to repair a section of a pipeline that is likely to burst if it is not fixed.

Uisce Éireann will work to minimise the impact to customers while carrying out the repair works.
Speaking about the nature of the works, Uisce Éireann’s Shay Walsh explained that specialist teams will works as quickly as possible through the night to complete the repairs and restore normal water supply.
