Water supply returning to normal in Co. Offaly following Storm Éowyn

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann crews have been working tirelessly to restore water supply to homes and businesses in County Offaly following the recent impact of Storm Éowyn.

The majority of water supplies in Co Offaly have been restored, but some customers may experience low pressure or disruptions as the networks begin to recharge.

Uisce Éireann’s James Joyce urged customers to continue to conserve water as the network recharges to protect the supply.

“We would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding following Storm Éowyn. Water has been restored to almost all our customers who were affected by the recent storm; however, it may take longer for those on higher ground or at the periphery of the network to have their supply fully restored.

Our teams worked diligently and safely to restore the supply as quickly as possible.  We would also like to express our thanks to the ESB and other agencies who helped ensure that all available resources were deployed to support the return of water supplies.

We would ask the public to remain vigilant over the coming days and report any leaks they see in the public network so that our crews can carry out repairs. The public can report leaks or bursts to our Customer Care Team on 1800 278 278.”

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann crews are mobilising across Offaly to assess the damage caused by Storm Éowyn overnight and early this morning.

Several water treatment plants are experiencing power outages, leading to some facilities shutting down. Where possible, backup generators are being used to operate the plants. As a result of the interruption in power, water levels in reservoirs around the County have dropped to low levels. Uisce Éireann customers will experience some reduced pressure and supply interruptions over the course of today and over the weekend.

Areas affected include

  • Clara,
  • Kinnitty,
  • Mountbolus,
  • Edenderry,
  • Tullamore Town,
  • Arden,
  • Rhode,
  • Toberdaly.

To protect the water supply for our community's most vulnerable members, including hospitals, nursing homes, and those who are medically vulnerable, we urge customers to conserve water whenever possible while we work to resolve the outages.
