Night-time restrictions required for customers on Ardfinnan Regional Supply Scheme
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.
As work continues to restore normal water supplies to all customers on the Ardfinnan Regional Supply Scheme, restrictions will be introduced from 9pm tonight until 6.30am tomorrow morning to support the recovery of water levels in the reservoir.
Uisce Éireann and water services crews have carried out a number of repairs to significant leaks on the water network but water levels remain low at local reservoirs and overnight restrictions are necessary to support recovery in overall water levels across the network.
Customers in the following areas will be impacted by this restriction tonight:
- Rathkeevin, Ballingarrane, Gortmore, Giantsgrave, Rathnasliggeen, Chancellorstown and surrounding areas.
- Ardfinan Village
- Garryroe / Marlfield/ Cuckoohill
According to Uisce Éireann’s Operations Lead Colin Cunningham said: “Leak detection and repair teams have been working in the area, and further works were undertaken today. We’re monitoring water levels in the reservoir. However restrictions are necessary to help the reservoir level recovery. We anticipate customers will see normal supply returning over next weekend. An alternative water supply will remain in place until normal supply is returned to all areas. We would like to thank the local community for their patience as we carry out such repairs. Details of planned and unplanned outages are available on the Uisce Éireann website, www.water.ie where customers can enter their address to get localised updates."
To support customers, Uisce Éireann has arranged an alternative water supply to be made available adjacent to Poulmucka village. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure as per HSE advice.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. Uisce Éireann continues to provide detailed, real-time, and local information about water service and supply issues on www.water.ie.
The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and updates are also issued via Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) @IWCare. To register as a vulnerable customer or as an alternative contact, visit www.water.ie/vulnerablecustomer.
