Uisce Éireann working to restore water supply to customers supplied by Burncourt Water Treatment Plant
The treatment plant is now back operating at full capacity
Uisce Éireann is working to address supply interruptions to some customers supplied by the Burncourt Water Treatment Plant in Tipperary as a result of the impacts of Storm Bert. The treatment plant is now back operating at full capacity. However, due to low reservoir levels customers may experience low pressure and intermittent supply in areas of the scheme at: Burncourt, Kilroe, Drumroe, Lisfunchion, Scart, Shanbally, Ballyporeen, Clogheen, Ballylooby and surrounding areas.
A water tanker has been deployed to Clogheen village beside the playground to support customers while normal supply is being returned. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Normal supply is expected to be returned to customers by 11am on Monday the 25th of November.
Colin Cunningham, Operations Lead with Uisce Éireann said, “While we have made good progress in restoring supplies following Storm Bert, some customers supplied by Burncourt Water Treatment Plant will be impacted by reduced water pressure and water outages while reservoir levels recover. We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused. Crews are currently on site carrying out works in order to restore supply to all customers as quickly as possible."
As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes. Following return of supply, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to fully be restored to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For updates, please see the Water Supply updates section.
