Uisce Éireann working to restore water supply to customers in Mid-Kerry

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supply to homes and businesses following operational issues at Brosna/Knocknagoshel Water Treatment Plant due a power outage and ongoing issues following Storm Bert over the weekend. As a result, water supply to Knocknagoshel and surrounding areas are impacted.

Expert crews are on the ground working to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers. Repair works are scheduled to take place until 1pm on Friday, 29 November.

Alternative water supplies in the form of bulk tankers have been arranged and will be in place from 5pm on Thursday, 28th November at:

  • Glounsharoon viewing point
  • Knocknagoshel burial ground

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Charlie O’Leary, Operations Lead for Uisce Éireann said: “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage of this nature, and we thank customers for their support while our crews work to ensure that a normal water supply is returned to those impacted as quickly as possible.

Following repair works, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries.
