Uisce Éireann reminds people in Co. Meath to report any visible leaks
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann is reiterating its appeal to the public in Meath to report any visible leaks in the public network so that its crews can carry out maintenance and repairs as required. Night-time restrictions may also be required in some areas to allow reservoir levels to recover.
As the impact of last week’s freezing weather and subsequent thaw continues to be felt there has been increased demand in the Meath area which is impacting on reservoir storage.
Everyone can help drive down demand by checking any property under their responsibility for burst pipes and leaks, and reporting leaks in public areas so they can be prioritised for repair. In particular, people are reminded not to leave taps running and to fix dripping or leaking taps.
Uisce Éireann’s Water Network Operations Manager in Meath, Michael Cunniffe, is reminding people to continue to be mindful of their water usage and report any leaks on the public network.
He said, “As a thaw replaces the freezing conditions we have experienced, we expect to see an increase in leaks and bursts on the network. Water services crews remain on standby to maintain and restore water supplies for customers in Meath."
“We would ask people to remain vigilant over the coming days and report any leaks they see in the public network so that our crews can carry out repairs. The public can report leaks or bursts to our Customer Care Team on 1800 278 278.”
