Uisce Éireann crews continue to work to repair Ballina burst
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.
A second water main burst in Ballina’s town centre has left a small number of premises without water this evening.
Uisce Éireann crews repaired a burst in the Market Square area yesterday evening. However, pipework further down the street has burst this evening resulting in approximately ten premises, including a school in the Market Square area, experiencing a disruption to their supply. Bottled water has been made available to customers affected and a water tanker is located in the area.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per advice from the Health Service Executive.
Uisce Éireann’s Ronan McDonnell assured customers that plans are being put in place to replace the damaged mains as quickly as possible.
“We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused. Often when mains are repaired and water pressure restored, we can experience bursts further down the line. We are working to restore normal supply across to customers affected.”
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
