Supply returning to 7,700 properties in Leixlip after repair works completed

Tankers will remain in place at Leixlip and Celbridge Supervalu carparks

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann crews have repaired a major burst in Blakestown, Leixlip, county Kildare this afternoon and water is returning to customers.

The unplanned outage resulted in the catchment regions of Carton Demesne, Newtown,  Parsonstown, Dublin Rd, Kellystown and surrounding areas all being affected.

Earlier this morning, Uisce Éireann put two tankards at the Supervalu carparks in both Leixlip and Celbridge and they will remain in place until 5pm this afternoon. Customers are reminded to bring their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil the water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per HSE advice.

Eoghan Forristal, Water Network Operations Manager, Uisce Éireann said: “This was a substantial break which required all hands-on deck to remedy the burst at Blakestown. All repairs have now been successfully completed and the network is now refilling. For customers who are at the end of the line or on higher ground, it typically takes 2-3 hours for their supply to return. We thank the community for their understanding at this time.”
