Repairs complete and water supply returning to customers in Donegal

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann crews have successfully completed repairs following multiple bursts to a water main affecting the Ballybofey and Stranorlar areas this morning.

Normal water supply is now returning to the majority of customers. However, those on higher ground or at the end of the network may experience disruption or an intermittent supply for a number of hours.

Customers may experience discolouration to their supply as a result of the repairs. In the event of discolouration, running the tap for several minutes will usually restore water to a clear colour. For more information, please customers can visit our dedicated page.

Uisce Éireann’s Paul Kilcoyne acknowledged the impact on customers.

“On behalf of Uisce Éireann, I’d like to thank customers who were impacted by this unplanned outage for their patience and co-operation."

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a major water main burst affecting Ballybofey and Stranorlar this morning.

Homes and businesses in the twin towns and surrounding areas are experiencing a disruption to their water supply but every effort is being made to return a normal supply as quickly as possible.

Crews have been mobilised and repairs are expected to be complete by 6pm. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Uisce Éireann’s Paul Kilcoyne assured customers that every effort is being made to restore water as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works are ongoing.”
