Repairs complete and water supply returning to customers in Burtonport

Uisce Éireann is aware that some customers in Burtonport and surrounding areas in Donegal have experienced supply interruptions as a result of a burst to a water main in recent days.
Uisce Éireann crews worked hard to locate the failed main on the network and repairs are now complete. It’s expected that most customers in Arlands, Burtonport and surrounding areas who experienced a disruption will have a normal water supply returning over the course of the day. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
Uisce Éireann’s Paul Lyons has thanked customers for their patience while crews worked to locate and subsequently repair the leak.
“The water mains failure had occurred in an overgrown marshland near an underground concrete structure which proved very difficult to locate. Our crews have now completed the necessary repairs and supply has returned to the majority of customers."

Customers may experience discolouration to their supply as a result of the repairs. In the event of discolouration, running the tap for several minutes will usually restore water to a clear colour. For more information, please customers can visit our page on discolouration.
