Uisce Éireann crews have successfully completed repairs following a burst water main which impacted customers in Achill yesterday (Tuesday).
Dedicated crews were dispatched yesterday afternoon and worked into the evening to restore normal supply to impacted customers in the communities of Shraheens, Glenco, Derreens, Cloughmore, Currane and surrounding areas.
Repairs were complete yesterday evening and normal water supply has been restored for the majority of customers. However, those on higher ground or at the end of the network may continue to experience intermittent supply. Uisce Éireann is working to restore water to customers in parts of Achill following a major burst.
Every effort is being made to maintain water supply to as many customers as possible, but the burst at Saile is impacting the communities of Shraheens, Glenco, Derreens, Cloughmore, Currane and surrounding areas.
Uisce Éireann crews are on site this afternoon repairing the main and it’s expected works will be completed this evening. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
Uisce Éireann’s Colette Scahill assured customers that every effort is being made to restore water as quickly as possible. “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while the repair works are ongoing.”
