Planned outage due to take place in Cork City

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann wishes to advise customers in Cork City of a planned water outage from 10.30pm on Thursday, 27 June to 2.30am on Friday, 28 June to facilitate ongoing essential watermains replacement works as part of the National Leakage Reduction Programme.

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Cork City Council, is replacing over 1.1km of old cast iron watermains on Popham’s Road as we continue to address leakage and discolouration reports.

Homes and businesses in Parklands, Larchfield, Park Dale, Park Close, Parkwood Close, Geaneys Boreen, Ashwood Close, Rowanville, Oakville Drive, Onslow Gardens, Dierville, Beechwood Grove, Fairfield Avenue, Russell Court, Pophams Road, Rathpeacon Road, Kilnap Place, St. Michaels Road, St. Colmans Road, St. Brendans Road, Commons Road, MountCara, The Priory, Seminary Court, The Lawn, Redemption Road, Lovers Walk, Seminary Place, Blackpool Shopping Centre and surrounding areas may experience low water pressure, temporary water discolouration or intermittent disruptions to water supply. Up to 2,100 customers may be impacted.

Jack Cronin, Programme Manager Uisce Éireann, said: “Every effort will be made to reduce the impact of these works on homes and businesses and to restore the water supply as quickly as possible. We would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and co-operation.

Following any significant works on the water network, we usually see increased reports of sediment becoming dislodged from the old cast iron pipes, resulting in discoloured water at customers’ taps in the short-term. If your tap water is discoloured, running the tap for up to 20 minutes will usually restore water to a clear colour. Water is safe to drink once the water is running clear. Uisce Éireann continues to advise customers not to drink discoloured water.
