Notice for motorists of Marsh Road road closure to facilitate upgrade works
Uisce Éireann wishes to advise motorists of a temporary road closure along the Marsh Road to facilitate upgrades to the wastewater network across South Drogheda to support social and economic growth and development, while ensuring the protection of the local environment.
In order to facilitate works, a section of the R150 Marsh Road will be closed, from the junction of South Quay and St Mary’s Bridge to the junction of Mill Road and the R150, from 8am on Monday 08 July to 5pm on Friday 19 July.
The South Drogheda Wastewater Network Reinforcement Project, delivered as part of Uisce Éireann’s national Growth and Development programme, will not only facilitate future demand for wastewater services in the community, it will also reduce the risk of sewer flooding in the area by increasing the capacity of the wastewater network.
Pipelaying commenced in April 2024 and is progressing to schedule, with works currently in place at The Dale.
Speaking about the project and upcoming road closure, Uisce Éireann’s Padraig Hanly, said: “We acknowledge that road closures can be inconvenient for the local community and our crews will make every effort to minimise disruption. We are confident that the short-term inconvenience will be outweighed by the long-term benefits upon completion of this essential wastewater network upgrade.
“When complete, this project will enable future growth and development in South Drogheda and will improve the operational performance of the wastewater network for residents and businesses in the area.”
Traffic flows will be diverted during the road closure with local and emergency services access maintained at all times. Eastbound traffic will be diverted via Dublin Road R132, Colpe Road and Mill Road. Westbound traffic will be diverted via Mill Road, Colpe Road and Dublin Road R132.
Standard working hours are from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Thursday and from 8am to 4pm on Fridays. Uisce Éireann understands that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause
