Motorists advised of Rock Road closure to facilitate reinstatement works

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann wishes to advise motorists of a temporary road closure along the Rock Road to facilitate works as part of a project to upgrade the water network in Blackrock to support social and economic growth and development.

In order to facilitate permanent reinstatement works, a section of the Rock Road will be closed, from the junction with the R172 to the junction to Old Golf Links Road, from Tuesday 06 August to Friday 16 August. A second crew will carry out permanent reinstatement works on the R172 under Stop / Go traffic management from Tuesday 06 August to Friday 23 August. GMC Utilities Group are delivering the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

The Blackrock Water Network Upgrade project, delivered as part of Uisce Éireann’s national Growth and Development programme, will facilitate future demand for water services in the community, and provide a more resilient water supply for residents and businesses.

Speaking about the project and upcoming reinstatement works, Uisce Éireann’s Padraig Hanly, said: “We acknowledge that traffic management and road closures can be inconvenient for the local community and our crews will make every effort to minimise disruption. We are confident that the short-term inconvenience will be outweighed by the long-term benefits upon completion of this essential wastewater network upgrade.

Padraig continued “The finish line is now in sight, with permanent reinstatement works marking the final stage of the project. These works are due to be complete before the start of new school term. We would like to sincerely thank the community for their ongoing patience and cooperation during the delivery of this essential project. When complete, this project will enable future growth and development in Blackrock and will improve the operational performance of the water network for residents and businesses in the area.”

Traffic flows will be diverted via R172 and Sandy Lane during the road closure with local and emergency services access maintained at all times.

Standard working hours are from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Uisce Éireann understands that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.

Uisce Éireann is responsible for delivering public drinking water and wastewater services for the people of Ireland.
