Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply to customers in Athboy, Trim due to a power outage following Storm Darragh.
Every effort is being made to maintain water supply to as many customers as possible, however customers in Athboy may experience supply interruptions until repairs are complete. Crews have been mobilised and works are expected to be complete later today.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Alternative Water Supplies in the form of bulk containers are being deployed and will be in place at the following locations:

  • Athboy - Tim Lodge, Main Street, Athboy
  • Rathcairn Church
  • Kildalkey – adjacent to the Church

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure”.

Uisce Éireann’s Michael Cunniffe, Asset Operations Lead, assured customers that every effort is being made to restore water as quickly as possible.
We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our essential works are ongoing.”
Uisce Éireann also advises customers in Trim and surrounding areas that further overnight restriction is essential to maintain a daytime supply. The nighttime restrictions will be in place from 10pm tonight for the coming days to allow local reservoir levels recharge."

Customers may experience discolouration to their supply as a result of the repairs. In the event of discolouration, running the tap for several minutes will usually restore water to a clear colour. For more information, customers can visit our help page.
