Water supply returning to normal in Strandhill and surrounding areas
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Water supply is returning to normal levels in Strandhill and the surrounding areas of Co Sligo this morning after the successful completion of mains repair works by Uisce Éireann crews on Wednesday evening.
A burst water main on Wednesday morning caused some supply disruptions for Uisce Éireann customers in Grange East, Kilmacowen, Strandhill and surrounding areas.
Uisce Éireann crews were able to locate the source of the burst and, despite some difficult excavation conditions, successfully repaired the main on Wednesday evening.
The works are now complete and supply is returning to all affected areas.
As the water supply returns, there may be some increased instances of discoloured water in the short-term. This can usually be cleared by running the tap for a few minutes until the water runs clear. For tips on what to do following an outage, visit our Issues during or after an outage page.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Previous Updates
Uisce Éireann is on site to carry out emergency works to repair a burst pipe which is causing water supply issues for customers in the Grange East, Cairns Hill County, Kilmacowen and Strandhill areas of Co Sligo.
Uisce Éireann crews have been on site since this morning, the leak has been found and repairs have commenced. However, due to difficult and unforeseen excavation conditions, works are expected to continue into the night and supply disruptions will continue throughout this evening.
Following the works, it may take three to four hours for normal supply to fully restore to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.
As the water supply returns, there may be some increased instances of discoloured water in the short-term. This can usually be cleared by running the tap for a few minutes until the water runs clear. For more tips on what to do following an outage, visit our Issues during or after an outage page.
