Crews has restored the normal water supply to homes and businesses after a significant burst in the network. The areas affected by the burst included Carlow Town, Pollerton, and surrounding areas.
Water services crews have been on site since early this morning and were able to reconfigure the network to minimise the impact on customers. Repairs are expected to be completed later this evening. As the water supply returns, there may be instances of discolouration as the network refills. Customers are advised to run their taps until the water runs clear.
Shane Aylward, Water Network Operations Lead, Uisce Éireann, said: "This morning, we experienced a burst in a large water main coming from Brownshill Reservoir, which temporarily disrupted the water supply. Our dedicated crews responded quickly and successfully reconfigured the network to minimise the impact on homes and businesses. The repair works are complex and will be completed to have minimal impact. I would like to thank our customers for their understanding during this process."
Following repair works, it typically takes three to four hours for regular supply to be fully restored to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.
Homes and businesses in the affected areas may experience water pressure, temporary water discolouration or intermittent disruptions to the water supply as the network recharges.
