Crews restore water supply in Kerry following Storm Darragh

Water supply has been restored for impacted customers in Kerry following Storm Darragh. Water production at a number of water treatment plants across the county was significantly impacted by power outages.

Uisce Éireann water services crews worked tirelessly on the ground to restore supply as soon as it was safe to do so, working closely with the ESB to return power.

Alternative water supplies were put in place to support customers in Knockanure Village and Carrigcannon, Lyreacrompane. These supplies have now been removed following the successful restoration of water supply.

Uisce Éireann’s Charlie O’Leary said: “We would like to thank residents and businesses for their patience and understanding while crews worked to restore supply across the weekend. Storm Darragh brought exceedingly high winds resulting in power outages at a number of water treatment plants causing supply interruptions. We would ask customers to be mindful of their usage while the reservoirs recharge.” 

Separately, maintenance work took place on Monday, due to a burst rising main at Station Road, Ardfert; however, customers were  not affected.

As the network refills and supplies return, customers at some points along the network may experience intermittent disruption or low water pressure for a number of hours.
