Our crews have successfully returned water supply to 34,000 customers across County Roscommon following the impact of Storm Éowyn.

Less than 1,000 customers in County Roscommon remain without water today. Efforts continue to restore water to some customers in Loughglynn, Lisacul, Fairymount, Trien, Cloonfad, and The Plains. As the network refills and supplies return in the coming days in these areas, customers may experience intermittent disruption or low water pressure.  Meanwhile, some customers on the North Roscommon Regional Public Water Supply Scheme may still be experiencing water outages and/or low pressure today. Power has been restored and reservoir and distribution lines are filling. Water has been restored to customers in Ballaghaderreen, Frenchpark, Sheepwalk and Gurteen in County Sligo.

However, properties on elevated areas on the west of the Ballaghderreen town (Derrenincarta, Curraun, Edmondstown) and in Bellanagare are still without a supply. A generator is in place and operating at Lisacurkia Reservoir supplying Fairymount, Loughglynn and Lisacul.  These areas should have water restored later this evening.  Alternative water supplies remain in place in Lisacul, Loughglynn and Bellanagare villages. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.  Customers on the Ballinlough/Granlahan Public Water Supply Scheme in West Roscommon may also be experiencing low pressures and intermittent supply. Although power has been restored at Lough Mask and Barnacarroll, customers in Trien, Granlahan, Ballinlough, Cloonfad and Williamstown may continue to experience reduced pressure or intermittent outages over the coming days as the network refills.

Due to power outages at Rockingham Spring Plant, a small number of customers on the Boyle/Ardcarne Regional Public Water Supply Scheme may still be experiencing water supply disruptions. These recurring power outages have resulted in reduced production and a delay in the restoration of a normal supply. Customers in The Plains area may be impacted by low pressure or interruptions. Uisce Éireann’s Ger Greally assured customers that Uisce Éireann is working to return the water supply to normal levels as quickly as possible. “In the meantime, customers are urged to conserve water where possible in order to protect supply while the outages are resolved. It has been an extremely busy period for our engineers, supervisors, caretakers, and repair crews who have been working hard to restore water for our customers and I want to acknowledge those efforts."
