Cleggan/Claddaghduff Public Water Supply continues to meet regulatory standards

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann assures customers on the Cleggan/Claddaghduff Public Water Supply that the water continues to meet regulatory standards.

Uisce Éireann has received calls to our customer care centre reporting taste and odour issues with the supply and we are treating this matter as a priority.

To date, all chemical and biological results are compliant with legislative requirements. An extensive network flushing programme has also been completed.

Additional sampling results for targeted parameters are due in the coming days as we continue to investigate the source of the intermittent taste and odour issues and continue to test the water to determine the root cause.

Where Uisce Éireann becomes aware of any taste and odour issue, a monitoring programme for those compounds associated with taste and odour issues commences to ensure that there is no impact on public health.

Protecting public health is a top priority for Uisce Éireann and we would like to advise customers that the water supply to customers in Cleggan is compliant with regulatory standards and is safe to drink once it is running clear.

Uisce Éireann advises customers not to drink discoloured water. In the event of discolouration, running the tap for several minutes will usually restore water to a clear colour. The water is safe to drink once running clear. If the issue remains unresolved, we encourage customers to contact us directly.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X @IWCare with any queries or concerns.

Customers experiencing taste or odour issues can find out more information by visiting our Water Quality page.
