Lower Glanmire Road Water Main Replacement

National Leakage Reduction Programme

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Cork City and County Council, is constructing a new water main in Lower Glanmire Road to improve security of supply for Cork City.

The project to construct a new trunk water main along the Lower Glanmire Road has commenced this week - 4 October 2018. These works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann's national Leakage Reduction Programme.

Benefits

A Reliable Water Supply

  • This project will improve the resilience of the water network in Cork City, increasing connectivity to enable re-routing of water supply as required

Steps

  • The works involve the construction of approximately 1100 meters of ductile iron trunk water mains
  • The section of works will take place from Millennium Gardens to Water Street. The works will also involve laying of over 500 metres of distribution mains from the new trunk main in the north area of the city
  • The works expected to be completed by the end of November 2018
