Kilmallock Bridge Water Treatment Plant Upgrade

Uisce Éireann is commencing works to upgrade the Kilmallock Bridge Water Treatment Plant in Co. Wexford.

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Wexford County Council, is commencing the upgrade of the treated water storage facility at Kilmallock Bridge. The project aims to improve security of supply to Uisce Éireann customers through the provision of secure and adequate storage. This project will not only ensure the delivery of clean, safe drinking water, but will also serve to accommodate any increased capacity requirements until 2044.

What is involved in this project?

  • Construction of 2 no. new treated water storage tanks.
  • Provision of a new pump station.
  • Construction of ancillary structures, de-chlorination system and associated above-ground kiosk.
  • Ancillary development including associated underground pipework and cabling
  • Landscaping and associated site development works at Kilmallock Bridge Water Treatment Plant.

Next Steps

  • Coffey Construction Ltd. has been appointed to deliver these works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
  • Site mobilization is underway. Construction works are due to commence in September 2023 and are expected to be complete in September 2024.
  • As part of the works, temporary traffic management will be required in order for construction vehicles to access the site.
  • This project will require temporary disconnection of services which will result in a planned water outage. This will be communicated to impacted stakeholders in advance and vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann will receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
