Castletown Water Network Upgrade

Uisce Éireann has completed a project to upgrade the water network at Castletown, Dundalk to support future growth and development in the area. 

These works involved upgrading and upsizing 1.5km of water mains at Toberona Road, Bellews Bridge Road and Mill Road. 

This project was being delivered to support existing and future developments within the community. It will improve the capacity of the existing water network in the area, improving performance and reducing demands on the current network.

The works were carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Group and were completed in summer 2024.

• Supporting social and economic development - This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned residential development.
• Improving the water network - This project will upgrade the water network, increasing the capacity to deliver reliable, sustainable high-quality water services.
• Providing a more resilient water supply - This project will improve the resilience of the water network, increasing connectivity to enable re-routing of water supply as required.

Uisce Éireann's Growth and Development Programme is a national programme of targeted investment to increase the capacity of water and wastewater infrastructure to enable social and economic growth and development, including the delivery of essential housing.
