Works underway to restore water supply for customers in Dublin City North

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Supply interruption as a result of a large burst to a water main

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Dublin City Council, is working to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers following a large burst to a water main in Dublin.

Dedicated water services crews are onsite working on repairs and are making every effort to minimise disruption and restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.

Customers in the following areas may be impacted by reduced water pressure and/or water outages until works are completed:

  • Ringsend,
  • North Dock,
  • Spencer Dock,
  • East Wall,
  • Sherriff Street,
  • North Strand,
  • Marino,
  • Fairview,
  • Clontarf,
  • Donnycarney,
  • Killester,
  • Raheny,
  • Coolock
  • and surrounding areas in Dublin City.

The repairs are complex due to the location of the burst and the presence of other underground services; however, dedicated water services crews are progressing with repairs which are expected to be completed by 6am, tomorrow 11 April.

It typically takes up to three hours for normal water supply to be fully restored to all customers, after the estimated restoration time, as the water network refills.

To ensure the safety of the public and crews carrying out the repairs, some traffic management may be necessary.

Operations Lead for Uisce Éireann, Joe O' Reilly, said: "Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience when an unplanned outage occurs, and we would like to thank impacted customers for their patience while we work to complete the repairs and restore normal supply as quickly as possible."

"We are appealing to customers to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines, where possible, until repairs are completed. Further information on water conservation is available on our website at www.water.ie/conserve."

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
