Works underway to restore supply in Kilbehenny Village and parts of Mitchelstown North

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supply as quickly as possible to customers in Kilbehenny Village and Mitchelstown North following a shutdown of the Galtees Water Treatment due to heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours.

As a result, customers in the area may experience low pressure and/or interruptions to their water supply. Dedicated water services engineers are onsite working to get the water treatment plant back into operation as soon as possible. It is anticipated that normal supply should be restored this evening.

Speaking about the unplanned outage, Water Operations Lead for Uisce Éireann, Niall O'Riordan said: "The effects of the heavy rainfall forced the water treatment plant to shutdown. Expert crews are still onsite working hard to get it back into operation as soon as possible and restore customers' water supply. We regret any inconvenience as a result of this issue and thank the local community for their patience.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X (formerly Twitter) @IWCare with any queries. For updates please visit our Water Supply Updates section on www.water.ie.
