Crews are on the ground working to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers
Uisce Éireann is working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses following a mechanical fault at Portumna Water Treatment Plant. As a result, water supply to Portumna and surrounding areas is impacted.
Crews are on the ground working to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers. In the meantime, an alternative water supply is currently being arranged and will be in place at the car park close to Concannon's Hardware in Killimor Village from 11am tomorrow morning and will remain in place until Saturday, 25 November. Customers are reminded to use their own clean and sanitised potable containers when taking water from the alternative water supply.
Uisce Éireann anticipates that the water supply will begin to return by tomorrow evening; however, it can take a number of hours for the reservoirs and water network to refill. Generally, it takes approximately two to three hours for the water supply to return to normal for all affected customers.
Uisce Éireann's Justin Doran regrets the inconvenience for customers, adding: "We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused. We would like to thank impacted customers in the Portumna area for their patience while we work on repairs and restore the water supply as quickly as possible."
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
