The issue was caused by a lightning strike at Crosstera Water Treatment Plant causing a shutdown
Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supply to approximately 30 customers in Crosstera and surrounding areas following a lightning strike at Crosstera Water Treatment Plant causing a shutdown this afternoon.
Dedicated water services crews are progressing with repairs and are making every effort to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible. Repair works are scheduled to be completed by Friday afternoon, 10 November.
Following repairs, it will take a number of hours for full water supply to be restored as the water network refills. Typically, it takes two to three hours for normal supply to restore to all customers affected.
Niall O'Riordan, Uisce Éireann, said: "We are working as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to customers. Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience caused when unplanned supply disruptions occur and thanks customers in advance for their patience while we work to restore normal water supply to impacted customers."
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
