Uisce Éireann to progress critical mains repair works to west of Galway City
Uisce Éireann will carry out essential repair and maintenance works to a water main on the west side of Galway City tomorrow afternoon (Thursday, 31 October).
The works will take place in the Tonabrocky/Letteragh Road area and are necessary to safeguard the drinking water supply in the area. This section of pipeline is in danger of bursting unless these repair works are carried out.
Uisce Éireann customers in the areas of Western Distributor Road, Letteragh Road, Rahoon Road, the N59 in Dangan, Ballymoneen Road, Clybaun Road, Bóthar Stiofán, Gort Na Bró and surrounding areas may experience an interruption to their water supply from approximately 12 noon to 4pm on Thursday. Uisce Éireann will work to minimise the impact to customers while carrying out the repair works.
Speaking about these works, Uisce Éireann’s Shay Walsh explained that specialist teams will work as quickly as possible to complete the repairs and restore normal water supply.
“Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused by interruptions to water supply and thanks customers in Galway City for their patience and cooperation while we deliver these essential works,” said Shay.
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.
