Spring will bring a more stable water supply to Strokestown

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

The people of Strokestown can look forward to an improved water supply with Uisce Éireann prioritising important works to reduce supply interruptions in the town.

Uisce Éireann is replacing 1.3km of old water mains with work getting underway next week. The old water mains that were prone to frequent bursts and leakage will be replaced with new modern pipes. Once complete, the works will ensure a more reliable water supply, and reduce high levels of leakage.

The section of works will take place along Bawn Street, Church Street, and the Tulsk Road (N5), Strokestown. The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply. These works are scheduled to be completed by spring next year.

Once these works are completed, customers in this area will enjoy an improved water supply with less disruption.

Commenting on the project, Enda Mac Namara, Uisce Éireann said: “This essential work is part of a significant investment by Uisce Éireann to improve the water network across the country, prioritising investment where it is needed most, enabling these communities to thrive. We would like to thank customers in Strokestown in advance for their cooperation and patience while we complete these works.”

To facilitate the safe delivery of the project and to minimise impact on the community, areas of work will be limited to short sections. Traffic management will be in place during this time. Motorists and residents can be assured that local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times. The works may require some short-term water supply interruptions, but the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned water interruptions.

Farrans Construction will deliver these works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

The Uisce Éireann Customer Contact Centre, open 24/7 on freephone 1800 278 278, is available to answer any queries.
