Repairs successfully completed at Trim Water Treatment Plant and supply restored
Plant back in full production
Uisce Éireann and Meath County Council have successfully completed repairs following a mechanical failure at Trim Water Treatment Plant.
Specialist equipment to the filtration system has been successfully installed to bring the plant back into full production.
Crews from Uisce Éireann and Meath County Council will continue to monitor reservoir levels closely but can confirm that water has been restored to safe levels and the requirement for night-time restrictions is no longer necessary.
Michael Cunniffe, Operations Lead with Uisce Éireann, said: "The night-time restrictions were necessary to ensure water was available during the day for the community. We are aware that customers on higher ground and on the extremities of the network experienced longer disruption to supply. We would like to thank all residents and businesses for their patience and conservation efforts during the restrictions.
"Uisce Éireann and Meath County Council will continue to monitor the supply closely and ensure reservoir levels are maintained."
Uisce Éireann is progressing a major project to upgrade and modernise Trim Water Treatment Plant to increase its capacity, provide increased resilience, and secure the water supply for existing and future generations. In the meantime, Uisce Éireann is also developing interim measures to mitigate the risk of further outages in Trim prior to the completion of the major upgrade of the treatment plant. In addition, Uisce Éireann continues to replace old and problematic water mains in the town to reduce disruption from bursts and outages which have been affecting homes and businesses.
Uisce Éireann is responsible for the delivery of all public water and wastewater services in Ireland. We are committed to continuously upgrading and developing critical infrastructure to support the growth needed in housing and across our economy, while protecting the environment and safeguarding water supplies.
