Overnight restrictions for Tully to help reservoir levels recover

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Nighttime water restrictions are necessary for customers supplied by Tully Water Treatment Plant to ensure a daytime supply for the Galway community.

The restrictions, which are in place from 11pm each evening to 7am the following morning, are required due to a combination of factors including the poor raw water quality entering the plant and the continued high demand for water.

Water levels are being reviewed daily and updates provided to the community as necessary.

Calling on the community in Tully to conserve water, Uisce Éireann's Eoin Hughes said: "These restrictions allow reservoir levels to recover overnight and maintain a consistent supply of drinking water for customers during the day. I continue to call on people in Galway to play their part in ensuring there is enough water for everyone as we go through the summer."

"It is important that we all consider our water usage and look at simple yet impactful ways to conserve water. It can sometimes be difficult to know where to start, but even small changes can make a significant difference, for example, turning off the hose, avoiding power washing and checking for leaks on outdoor taps."

For simple ways to conserve water check out the Uisce Éireann website where our conservation calculator (www.water.ie/calculator) can help people work out how much water they are currently saving and how they can conserve even more. We are also encouraging the public to report any visible leaks on the public network via our website at www.water.ie or by contacting 1800 278 278.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For updates, please visit the Water Supply Updates section of the Uisce Éireann website.
