Essential wastewater upgrade project set to begin next week in South County Dublin

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, is upgrading the wastewater network at Woodbrook, Shanganagh to support current and future growth and development.

This project is part of Uisce Éireann's commitment to the national drive to provide homes to people who need them by developing and prioritising the delivery of key water and wastewater infrastructure.

The project, which will begin next week in the Shanganagh Cliffs estate, will involve the installation of 2.5km of new sewerage pipeline and ancillary works, significantly increasing capacity of the existing wastewater collection system for local residents and businesses. It will also facilitate social and economic growth including planned residential development.

The works will take place at Shanganagh Park, Quinn's Road, Corbawn Drive, Corbawn Avenue and Shanganagh Cliffs and will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Group Ltd. and are expected to be completed by the end of Q2 2024.

Commenting on the importance of the project Lisa Cogan, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: "We are delighted to progress this essential wastewater project for the local community. When completed, the new infrastructure will provide the required wastewater capacity to meet current and future demand while also enabling social and economic growth and development in Woodbrook, Shanganagh and surrounding areas''.

"The project reflects Uisce Éireann's ongoing commitment to the efficient delivery of critical infrastructure to support growth in local communities across Dublin."

Standard working hours are from 8am to 7pm, Monday to Friday. Any changes will be communicated in advance. Uisce Éireann understands that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.

Uisce Éireann is responsible for delivering public drinking water and wastewater services for the people of Ireland. We are committed to enabling communities to thrive by continuously upgrading and developing critical infrastructure to support sustainable growth and development, providing safe drinking water, and enhancing the environment.
