Water returning to impacted areas in Malahide following essential works

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Fingal County Council, have successfully completed repair works impacting customers in Seapark and Biscayne and normal water supply is returning.

Dedicated water service crews were onsite from early this morning carrying out repairs to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible. It typically takes a number of hours for full supply to return as water refills the reservoir and the network.

To support customers, an alternative water supply will remain in place nearby in Island View, Malahide, until full supply has been restored. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and, as a precaution, boil the water before drinking.

Uisce Éirean's Tselo Tlou said, "Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience when outages occur and we would like to thank customers for their patience while we worked to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible. I would like to acknowledge the work and dedication of our colleagues in Fingal County Council who worked through the night to ensure the complex repairs were completed and that no further issues were identified."

Tselo Tlou, Uisce Éireann, explained: "We understand that this type of work may be disruptive to the local community and I would like to thank those customers in advance for their understanding while we worked to complete these works as quickly as possible and restore normal water supply."

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Following this type of work, occasionally issues such as cloudy water (air bubbles), discolouration or internal airlocks may arise. The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is also open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. Previous Updates

Customers in Seapark, Biscayne and surrounding areas affected

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Fingal County Council, wishes to advise customers in Malahide that repair works taking place today will now continue until tomorrow afternoon. This is to ensure the continued delivery of clean, safe drinking water to homes and businesses.

While works are underway, customers in Seapark, Biscayne and surrounding areas will continue to experience temporary low pressure and/or outages until approximately 3pm tomorrow, Wednesday 24 May.

Following the works, it typically takes 2 to 3 hours for supply to return as water refills the network. Crews will make every effort to complete the works as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to homes and businesses. As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes. Uisce Éireann advises customers to familiarise themselves with their storage capacity.
