Essential night-time restriction in Trim to help reservoir levels recover
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.
This restriction is necessary following operational issues at Trim Water Treatment Plant.
Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Meath County Council, advise customers in Trim and surrounding areas that essential night-time restrictions are required tonight to help Brayhill Reservoir levels recover. This restriction is necessary following operational issues at Trim Water Treatment Plant.
To help reservoir levels recover and maintain a sufficient water supply to homes and businesses during normal working hours, water supply will be restricted from 10pm tonight, Sunday, 18th December until 7am tomorrow morning.
The following locations may experience reduced water pressure or disruption to their supply:
- Trim,
- Knightsbrook,
- Scurlockstown,
- Effernock,
- Carberstown,
- Blackfriary,
- Crowpark,
- Clonbun,
- Rathmolyon.
It can take two to three hours following restriction for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas.
Speaking about the restriction, Michael Cunniffe, Uisce Éireann said: "Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience the restriction may cause. The night-time restriction is necessary to ensure a daytime water supply is available for residents and businesses for hygiene and other essential purposes. During the daytime, we are appealing to customers to help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. Further information on water conservation is available on the water conservation section of our website."
