Essential night-time restrictions are required in Collon and Tinure South areas of Louth

Uisce Éireann and Louth County Council wish to advise customers in Collon, Tinure South and surrounding areas that essential overnight water restrictions are required to allow reservoirs to refill. These temporary night-time water restrictions will be in place from 10:30pm tonight, Tuesday 27 April, until 6:30am tomorrow morning.

These restrictions will continue each night on a temporary basis in order to conserve storage supplies while repair works are ongoing. Works are being carried out in line with current HSE and government COVID-19 advice. We will advise on the lifting of these restrictions as soon as possible.

These restrictions are necessary to conserve water and to allow reservoirs to refill so that daytime water supply can be maintained. Some customers may experience low water pressure and/or water discolouration while restrictions are in place. Normal water supply may take 1-2 hours to return as water refills the network.

COVID-19

We are asking customers in Collon, Tinure South and surrounding areas to be mindful of how they use water, however it is important to continue to follow the HSE guidance on hand washing.

Conserving water

As handwashing remains a priority, simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on this supply. Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth and shaving can save up to 6 litres of water per minute. Taking a shower instead of a bath or using a watering can rather than a hose when gardening can also make a big difference in water use. Uisce Éireann continues to work at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.
