Critical upgrade to water infrastructure in Trim to secure the water supply for homes and businesses
Uisce Éireann is delighted to announce the submission of planning permission for a major upgrade to the Trim Water Treatment Plant. The upgrade will help secure the water supply for this bustling town for current and future generations.
The Trim Water Treatment Plant has been in operation in Scurlockstown, Trim since 1997, providing over 10,000 customers in the town and the environs with drinking water. This significant upgrade will include works to upgrade and modernise the plant to meet operational demands, enhance resilience, and ensure that the drinking water supplied meets the requirements under the Drinking Water Regulations.
The project is one of a number of strategically important projects underway to enhance the security and resilience of the water supply across Co. Meath.
Commenting on the importance of the project for the people of Trim and surrounding areas, Denise Treacy, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, said: "The upgrade of the Trim Water Treatment Plant is essential to address the ongoing operational issues impacting customers. Uisce Éireann recognises that these restrictions have significantly inconvenienced customers, and this significant upgrade project will help remedy these issues and secure the water supply for existing and future generations."
On the importance of the project for the people of Trim, Denise added: "This project will be an important milestone in the delivery of a resilient water supply for the thriving town of Trim. The upgrade of the Trim Water Treatment Plant and associated infrastructure will enable Uisce Éireann to meet the operational demands of homes and businesses and reduce the risk of water quality issues in the future."
