Crews working to restore water supply for customers in Kilbehenny Village and parts of Mitchelstown North
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.
Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supply as quickly as possible to customers in Kilbehenny Village, Carrigane and Mitchelstown North. This is following a shutdown of the Galtees Water Treatment Plant due to heavy rainfall over the last 48 hours.
As a result, customers in these areas may experience low pressure and/or interruptions to their water supply. Dedicated water services engineers are onsite working to get the water treatment plant back into operation as soon as possible. It is anticipated that normal supply should be restored to customers tonight.
Water Operations Lead for Uisce Éireann, Niall O'Riordan explained: "Despite the heavy rainfall yesterday, our crews were able to ensure no supply interruptions for customers. However, the impact further heavy rainfall last night has forced the water treatment plant to shut down this afternoon. Expert crews are onsite working hard to get it back into operation as soon as possible and restore customers' water supply. With further heavy rain forecast in the coming days, we will continue to endeavour to notify customers and businesses where likely shut downs may arise as a result of weather events and supply conditions. We regret any inconvenience as a result of this issue and thank the local community for their patience."
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.
The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X (formerly Twitter) @IWCare with any queries. For updates please visit our Water Supply Updates section on our website.
