Crews working to restore water supply to customers in Fermoy
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.
Uisce Éireann is working to restore the water supply as quickly as possible to approximately 500 homes in parts of Fermoy due to technical issues at the water treatment plant in Coolrue.
Dedicated crews have carried out the necessary repairs and the plant is now working as normal. However, customers in Forest Glen and Barry's Court and surrounding areas may experience low pressure and/or interruptions to their water supply until this afternoon. Following repairs, it typically takes two to three hours for water to refill the network and normal supply to fully restore to all areas, especially those on higher ground.
Uisce Éireann's Niall O'Riordan regrets the inconvenience for customers, adding: "We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused. We would like to thank impacted customers in the Forest Glen and Barry's Court areas for their patience while we work to restore the water supply as quickly as possible."
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.
The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X (formerly Twitter) @IWCare with any queries. For updates please visit our Water Supply Updates section.
