Crews working on repairs to burst wastewater main in Celbridge

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann crews are continuing their efforts to repair a burst to a wastewater main on a section of pipeline from Celbridge to Leixlip Wastewater Treatment Plant. The pumps have been temporarily switched off while repairs are underway and wastewater is being tankered from Castletown Pumping Station for treatment.

Repairs are complex due to challenging ground conditions and are taking longer than expected. An emergency overflow has come into operation at Castletown Pumping Station, which will result in the unavoidable discharge of screened wastewater to the Liffey. This will consist of flows beyond those which are being tankered off site for treatment. This is to protect homes, gardens, roads and open spaces from wastewater flooding.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For updates please visit the Water Supply Updates section of the www.water.ie.
