Crews to upgrade the water supply in Cherrywood and support economic growth
Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, is upgrading the water network at Cherrywood Business Park to provide a more reliable water supply to the local community while also supporting future growth and economic development.
The project involves the construction of an additional 400 meters of new trunk water mains which will be installed between two existing water connection points. As part of the project, Uisce Éireann will also progress the testing, disinfecting and commissioning of 400 meters of existing pipeline, not currently in operation, that was installed previously in anticipation of these upgrades.
Commenting on the project, Padraig Hanly, Uisce Éireann said, "Working with our colleagues in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, we are delighted to announce the beginning of construction work on these important upgrades for Cherrywood. The works will support future residential and commercial development while also improving the overall performance of the existing water network, providing a more reliable water supply to the local community."
Padraig added "We understand that the works may cause some inconvenience to the local community, however, our crews will make every effort to minimise disruption and complete the project as quickly as possible. On behalf of Uisce Éireann, I would like to thank everyone in advance for their support and co-operation."
The project, which is due to get underway next week will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Ltd. and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
