Advice of essential upgrade works to provide a safe and secure water supply in Bray
Securing the water supply in the Garden County remains a top priority for Uisce Éireann as the intensive campaign continues to drive down leakage and improve the water supply to homes and businesses
Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Wicklow County Council, will carry out essential water main upgrade works, to provide a more reliable water supply and reduce the amount of treated drinking water lost to leakage in the thriving coastal town of Bray. The works are a critical step in conserving this precious resource and reducing high levels of leakage which have been a significant source of disruption for customers.
To facilitate this essential upgrade and minimise the impact to customers, works will take place overnight from 10pm on Tuesday, 26 September until 6am on Wednesday, 27 September.
During this time, customers in Bray and surrounding areas may experience temporary low pressure and/or water outages. Crews will make every effort to minimise the disruption to impacted customers and will work to complete these works as possible. It typically takes two to three hours following restoration time for the network to refill and normal water supply to fully return.
Speaking about the works, Stephen Burke, Uisce Éireann's Regional Operations Manager said, "The delivery of this essential upgrade will help to secure the water supply to homes and businesses in the area ensuring a safer, more sustainable water supply. Working in partnership with Wicklow County Council, we are making every effort to minimise the impact on customers by undertaking these upgrade works at night time and will work to complete them as quickly as possible."
"I would like to thank the local community in advance for their patience and cooperation while we upgrade their critical infrastructure."
Following this type of work, occasionally issues such as cloudy water (air bubbles), discolouration or internal airlocks may arise. For advice on how to resolve these issues, please visit our Supply Issues Following an Outage page.
