Stamullen Wastewater Network Improvement Project

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Meath County Council and Fingal County Council, is upgrading the wastewater network in Stamullen.

The works will involve construction of new sewerage pipes on the R132 and is part of a project to improve the capacity of the existing sewers in the area and improve operational performance.

GMC Utilities Limited is working on behalf of Uisce Éireann to deliver these works.

Further construction works will be required after advanced works are completed on the R132 and information will be provided nearer the scheduled construction commencement.

Uisce Éireann is working proactively with our delivery partners and as part of a multi-agency working group to ensure that our construction works are carried out in a controlled and safe manner, in keeping with Government and HSE guidelines to protect workers, their families and the broader community.

What is involved as part of this project?

This project involves:

  • The construction of approximately 2km of twin rising mains and a gravity sewer on the R132 from the Delvin Bridge to Cardy Rock, Balbriggan.

Programme of works

This phase of works are due to commence in early June 2021 and are expected to be completed by September 2021. To minimise disruption during construction a phased approach will be taken. Areas of work will be limited to short sections to limit the impact on the local community.

The standard working hours are generally between 8am and 6pm, with no work anticipated on Sundays and public holidays. On the Flemington Lane section of works, hours of work will be between 9am and 6pm.

Traffic management will be in place during the course of the works in the form of a stop/go traffic light system. Local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.

We understand that this type of works can be inconvenient and work crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.

What are the benefits?

The works carried out as part of this project will:

  • Improve the capacity of the existing local sewers and operational performance
  • Facilitate future growth in the area
