St. Helena's Wastewater Improvement Project

Uisce Éireann Growth and Development Programme

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Louth County Council has upgraded the wastewater network in St. Helena's Dundalk, Co. Louth.

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Louth County Council is undertaking essential works to upgrade the wastewater network at St. Helena's, Dundalk, Co. Louth.

These works will involve construction of almost 1.2km of new sewerage pipes and is part of a project to improve the capacity of the existing sewers in the area and improve operational performance.

GMC Utilities Limited is working on behalf of Uisce Éireann to deliver these works.

These works will involve the replacement of a new rising main, beginning at St. Helena's Terrace pumping station to the junction of Coes Road and Point Road. The rising main at Quay St pumping station will also be replaced as part of these works.

This project is being delivered to support future developments within the community. It will improve the capacity of the existing wastewater main in the area, improving performance and reducing demands on the current network.

What is involved as part of this project?

This project involves:

  • The construction of approximately 1.2km of wastewater rising mains.

Programme of works

The works are due to commence in early August 2022 and are expected to be completed by the end of Q1 2023.To minimise disruption during construction a phased approach will be taken. Areas of work will be limited to short sections to limit the impact on the local community.

The standard working hours are generally between 8am and 6pm, with no work anticipated on Sundays and public holidays.

Traffic management will be in place during the course of the works with temporary stop/go traffic light systems in place. Local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.

We understand that this type of works can be inconvenient and work crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.

  • Support social and economic development - This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned residential development, in Dundalk.
  • Improve the capacity of the existing local sewers and operational performance.
