Wastewater Project
Uisce Éireann, in partnership with South Dublin County Council is upgrading wastewater infrastructure at Newcastle to support future growth and development in the area.
Uisce Éireann in partnership with South Dublin County Council is progressing with upgrades to the existing wastewater pumping station near Greenogue Business Park to cater for the future growth and development of the wider Newcastle area. These works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann's Growth and Development Programme and are expected to commence in late September 2023.
The upgrade of the wastewater pumping station and rising main will provide the required wastewater infrastructure capacity to support future social and economic growth in the area.
The works will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Group Ltd. and are expected to be completed in Q2 2024.
What will the project involve?
This wastewater infrastructure improvement project involves the following:
- Upgrade of the existing pumping station, including valve repair and replacement works, pump repair and replacement and other ancillary works
- Necessary remedial works to the wastewater rising main

- Supporting social and economic development - This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned residential development.
- Planning for future demand - Incresing the capacity of the wastewater network to support increased demand.
- Network performance - Delivering upgraded wastewater infrastructure, increasing the capacity to deliver reliable, sustainable high-quality wastewater services.
Will customers be affected by the works?
Works will be primarily confined to within the pumping station site. A Stop / Go traffic management system will be in place on the R120 for a number of days to facilitate air valve replacement works and this will be communicated locally in advance of commencement.
We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause. Standard working hours are 8AM to 6PM, Monday to Friday.
