Marina Road Water Network Upgrade

Uisce Éireann Growth and Development Programme

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Cork City Council has upgraded the water network at the Marina Road, Cork City to support future growth and development in the area.

Uisce Éireann has worked in partnership with Cork City Council on a network extension and upgrade programme that will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned development in the South Docks area of Cork City.

Works to install 460m of new water main along the Marina Road and Centre Park Road commenced on 15 May 2023. These enabling works form part of a wider project, the Cork South Docks Water Network Extension and Upgrade Project, which have improved the capacity of the existing water network and operational performance in the area.

The works were carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Ward & Burke Limited and took 4 weeks to complete.

What are the benefits of the works?

The benefits of these water network works include:

  • Supporting social and economic development - This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned residential development.
  • Improving the water network - This project will upgrade the water network, increasing the capacity to deliver reliable, sustainable high-quality water services. Providing a more resilient water supply Supporting economic and social development Increasing the capacity of the water network.
  • Providing a more resilient water supply - This project will improve the resilience of the water network, increasing connectivity to enable re-routing of water supply as required.

Will customers be affected by the works?

A road closure will be required at the Marina Road from the Northeast side of Páirc Uí Chaoimh, adjacent to the Atlantic Pond, as far as the Lee Rowing Club / Cortado Coffee. From there works will progress down Centre Park Road for approximately 60 meters, under Stop / Go traffic management.

Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained at all times throughout the works.

We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause. Standard working hours are 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday.
