Courtmacsherry-Timoleague Sewerage Scheme

Wastewater Project

Courtmacsherry and Timoleague are popular tourist destinations in West Cork. This €10 million project has ended untreated wastewater being discharged directly into the Argideen River which originally impacted the river and bathing waters at Coolmaine.

The practice of discharging untreated wastewater is no longer acceptable and Uisce Éireann has rectified this problem in conjunction with Cork County Council by constructing a new wastewater treatment plant to ensure that wastewater discharging to Argideen River meets appropriate discharge standards. The new Wastewater Treatment Plant brings many benefits to Courtmacsherry and Timoleague in terms of health, integrity of the environment and improved water quality for all.
