Castletown Water Network Upgrade
Uisce Éireann Growth and Development Programme
Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Louth County Council is upgrading the water network at Castletown, Dundalk to support future growth and development in the area.
These works involve upgrading and upsizing 1.7km of water mains at Toberona Road, Bellews Bridge Road and Mill Road.
This project is being delivered to support existing and future developments within the community. It will improve the capacity of the existing water network in the area, improving performance and reducing demands on the current network.
The works are being carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Ltd. and are expected to be completed by September 2023.
What are the benefits of the works?
- Supporting social and economic development - This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned residential development.
- Improving the water network - This project will upgrade the water network, increasing the capacity to deliver reliable, sustainable high-quality water services.
- Providing a more resilient water supply - This project will improve the resilience of the water network, increasing connectivity to enable re-routing of water supply as required.
Works Update
All watermain installation works along Toberona Road, Bellews Bridge Road and Mill Road have been completed.
Service connection works will take place in February 2024 at Castletown Road. Residents and businesses will be notified 48 hours in advance of any water supply disruptions
Permanent reinstatement of the road surface will be scheduled in consultation with Louth County Council.
