Works in place to restore water supply for customers in the Cooley Peninsula

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Ww are working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses to areas in the Ballymascanlan, Rath, Jenkinstown, Greenore, Omeath and Carlingford areas of the Cooley Peninsula.

The disruption to supply is down to a combination of unusually high customer demand and leakage. Periodic outages and a drop in pressure are expected to continue over the weekend.

Crews are on the ground and have isolated a significant leak, the treatment plant is running at maximum production to replenish the reservoirs, and the operations team have diverted water from the adjacent Cavanhill scheme to help minimise disruption and return supplies as quickly as normal.

Uisce Éireann's Operations Lead, James O Hagan regrets the inconvenience for customers, adding: "We understand how disruptive unplanned outages are and we regret the inconvenience caused. We would like to thank impacted customers for their patience while we work to restore the water supply as quickly as possible."

A water tanker will be placed at Grange Church Car Park from 6pm this evening as a means of providing an alternative water supply. Consumers should bring their own containers and boil water from the tanker as a precautionary measure.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience when an outage occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to restore normal supply to impacted customers.
