Water safe to drink in Co. Kildare and fully meets regulatory standards

Uisce Éireann can confirm following sampling and testing results received today in response to taste and odour issues reported in Athy, Newbridge, and surrounding areas that the drinking water fully meets regulatory parameters and is safe to drink.

Following reports of abnormal taste and odour, Uisce Éireann has arranged additional specialist sampling for compounds that are known to cause taste and odour issues.

Kevin Love, Regional Asset Operations Lead at Uisce Éireann said, "Our primary focus is the protection of public health. We understand the concerns raised by some customers in relation to the odour and taste of their drinking water and we would like to reassure all customers that the water coming from the water treatment plants serving Co Kildare is safe to drink. The treatment plants supplying water to customers in Co Kildare are operating in full compliance with drinking water regulations."
